After experimenting with charcoal, paint and clay, I have found my true love in silver.
I have always been drawn to the robust metal, appreciating its capacity for expression and style. Using lessons learned from a lifetime of scattered art classes and graphics-related jobs, I create sterling silver jewelry that derives its artistic value from the physical creative process, as well as what it represents as a finished piece. Beyond mere adornment, I truly think of my creations as wearable art.

My pieces do not always begin with detailed sketches and precise measurements, though
I sometimes scribble down the technical necessities. I generally begin with a vivid mental image that develops its own personality as I build the piece I see in my mind. It is very important to me as an artist to primarily use hand tools and employ traditional fabrication methods. Though many basic jewelry components are now available in bulk, I create all the elements of each piece that I can, including clasps, bails, and findings.

My designs are based on natural patterns and contours, and my stone selections come from an earth tone palette. To give my pieces an organic feel, I use a rolling mill and hand-drawn etched brass plates or other textured materials to imprint patterns on
sterling sheet. I also strive to incorporate multiple sections joined with hinges or rings
and three-dimensional elements such as stones and small silver beads. Finally, on almost all my work I apply oxidized patina and rough-sanded matte finishes. To me, every
element within a design must enhance the message of the final piece.

While my designs are visually based in nature, they are spiritually based in my exploration of life’s big questions -- What does it mean to be alive? What is my singular purpose, my thread within the greater tapestry of humanity? Complete immersion in the creative process brings answers into reach and generates an inner peace for me. I believe that life
is not a single line that joins two endpoints; rather it is made up of many segments -- everyone lives many lives within their lifetime. For me, this is the best one yet.
